There are two methods used in silo demolition. The most common one is to strategically remove the support of a silo on its one side so as to topple it in the desired direction. After it is on the ground the owner is responsible for cleanup.
The second method is to set up scaffolding inside and take it down from the top. This method is used for two reasons. One reason is when the materials will be salvaged and reused elsewhere. The other is when there are obstructions on all sides that prohibit it from being thrown down.
When we take a silo down we try to recover quality components and give the customer fair credit.
NOTE OF CAUTION: Because of the high risk involved in toppling silos, we strongly recommend that it not be attempted by someone who is inexperienced. It may appear to be extremely easy, but there are countless variables involved that only one who has experience will notice and have the wherewithal to deal with it in a safe manner.
